D-714 Launched Oulton Broad 22:55

The South Broads RNLI Lifeboat was requested to re launch after the stations routine training following reports of youths canoeing on Oulton Broad. Yarmouth Coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public who had witnessed a pair of youths playing on canoes in Oulton broad in the fading light,

The South Broads Lifeboat ILB1 "Jean Ryall" was being prepared for service following the lifeboat crews routine training exercises. The D-Class inshore Lifeboat was launched at 21:55 to investigate and after a sweep of the broad along with a motor cruiser in the vicinity the coastguard were satisfied that the canoeists had returned to shore.

The Coastguard stood the Lifeboat down and the "Jean Ryall" was recovered, Refuelled and ready for further service by 22:30.

The South Broads RNLI Lifeboat was called out on Saturday 5th June at 18:17pm following reports of two missing children at Flixton Decoy.

Suffolk Police asked Yarmouth Coastguard for Lifeboat assistance when parents reported 2 children missing in the vicinity of Flixton Decoy, Yarmouth Coastguard tasked the South Broads RNLI and the Broads Truck was mobilised to Flixton.

Due to the proximity to the main river it was decided that the D-Class inshore lifeboat, "Jean Ryall" should also be launched to search the river near Flixton Marshes. Soon after leaving the station it was reported that the children had been located and were safe and well.

All units involved in the call including Coastguard auxiliary units from Lowestoft were then stood down.

The South Broads lifeboat was then released to return to station, being recovered, refuelled and ready for service by approximately 19:00pm.

The South Broads RNLI Lifeboat was called out on Wednesday 2nd June at 22:48 am following reports of a vessel aground and taking in water.

The D-Class inshore lifeboat “Jean Ryall” was launched at approximately 23:00pm to locate a speed boat which was reported aground and taking water in North Bay. Broads Truck was initially mobilised to Broadview Road with a salvage pump to assist Broads ILB1 refloat the vessel but was not required.

Once the vessel was located on White Cast Marshes Broads ILB1 took the vessels crew of 2 to the Lifeboat station where they were treated for shock and checked over by an ambulance crew. The Lifeboat then returned and refloated the vessel and towed it to the Lifeboat station where it was pumped out and moored for the night.

The South Broads lifeboat was then released to return to station. Being returned to station, refuelled and ready for service by approximately 00:30am.

The South Broads RNLI Lifeboat was called out on Saturday 1sth May at 03:12am following reports of persons canoeing on Oulton Broad in difficulty.

The new £31,000 D-Class IB1 inshore lifeboat "Jean Ryall" was launched for the first time on service at approximately 3:20am along with The stations smaller XP Class Lifeboat, Broads ILB 2 to search the Broad, quickly managing to separately locate both a kayak and paddle which were believed to have been stolen from nearby.

Broads ILB2 returned to the lifeboat station with the kayak whilst ILB1 continued to search the area looking for signs of other canoeists or the occupant, but after a thorough search by the lifeboats plus Coastguard and RNLI Personnel performing a bank search Yarmouth Coastguard called off the search.

The South Broads lifeboat was then released to return to station. Being returned to station, refuelled and ready for service by approximately 04:30am.
