LATEST SHOUT: "PERSONS ON CANOES" - 29/06/2010

The Station was brought on line in July 2001 as a pilot scheme and in its first 4 months attracted 18 "Shouts" rescuing 35 people, a seagull with a damaged wing and a monkjack deer that had fallen in the river. Due to its success it was upgraded in December 2001 to an evaluation station, and at the end of 2002 was made a permanent lifeboat.

The station started off from a boatyard on the north bank of Oulton Broad, the site provided the station with a large area for training and 2 drying/changing areas, plus a mechanics store and office. But the whole building was built as a slipway and therefore caused some difficulties with recovering the boat.

At present we are based in temporary housing in part of the old Hampton Boats site at Oulton Broad, The RNLI is currently investigating possible sites for a purpose built station near to our current one.

Since opening back in 2001 the Station has had many boats these are listed below.
