LATEST SHOUT: "PERSONS ON CANOES" - 29/06/2010

D-714 and the Older D-514 on Oulton Broad.

D-714 "Jean Ryall" is a D-Class IB1 variant it is a new evolution of the previous EA16 D-Class lifeboat. This 5m x 2m Inflatable boat is constructed of Polyester coated Hypalon inflatable sponsons which are made in individual sections or chambers to allow the lifeboat to remain afloat in the event of damage.

The fabric inflatable hull and inflatable keel are strengthened using a Fibre Reinforced Composite (FRC) deck & transom and is also fitted with a aluminum and composite bow pod to allow better stowage of important equipment.

The IB1 is very fast and manoeuvrable and has a crew of 2 or 3. The boat carries a variety of equipment for different tasks from first aid to towing, & is fitted with a VHF radio, and usually fitted with a GPS Chartplotter.

Power is by a single 50hp outboard engine and carries enough fuel to be "on service" for approximately 3 hours at constant full speed, which is around 25 knots.
