coastguard requested South Broads launched following a call from a private
motor cruiser which had broken its propshaft on the new cut. Further details: HERE

14:30 The South Broads RNLI Lifeboat were called when Yarmouth Coastguard received reports of a male swimming in Lowestoft Harbour near the ASDA supermarket. Broads ILB1 was quickly launched proceeded through mutford lock into the inner harbour whilst broads truck was sent to Commercial road to meet with coastguard and police personnel, Once on scene the Inshore lifeboat recovered the person from the water and took him to the Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club where he was passed onto a waiting ambulance crew and the police. Both
of the South Broads lifeboats were then released to return to base.
Being returned to station, refuelled and ready for service by 4:25pm.

21:43 Yarmouth coastguard requested South Broads launched following reports of a possibly intoxicated person in a dinghy between Reedham and Langley Dyke. Broads ILB1 launched from station at 22:06 and Broads truck followed shortly behind both proceeding to Reedham to start the search for the casualty. Prior to arrival on scene, it was reported to the coastguard that the man had been found safe and well on shore. The South Broads lifeboats were released to return to base. Both returned to station, refuelled and ready for service by 23:25.

14:58 Yarmouth coastguard requested South Broads launched following reports of a vessel with manoeuvring difficulties between Waveney river centre and Beccles. Once on scene, it was found that the vessel had lost all steering and it was deemed that the best course of action was to tow the vessel into a safe mooring at the Waveney river centre. The vessel was made secure and then the lifeboat was released to return to base. The lifeboat was returned to station, refuelled and ready for service by 17:25.

22:42 The
South Broads RNLI Lifeboat was called out on Thursday 28th May at 21:42
to assist Suffolk Police and Fire service after a deer had fallen into
Lowestoft harbour near Lings Honda. Broads truck was sent along with
ILB2 to provide safety cover. The lifeboat was stood down and returned to station, being refuelled and ready for service by 22:10.

11:43 Whilst
undertaking the previous search it was noticed that a 25ft yacht had
lost propulsion and was drifting onto the wreck of the yellowtail, and
the crew quickly responded to tow the vessel and its crew back to a
mooring at the Lowestoft Haven Marina.

Coastguard requested that the Lifeboat was launched to assist suffolk
police with a second day of searching for a person who has been missing
since Tuesday, when the lifeboat arrived on scene at 10:23 the lifeboat
crew immediately proceeded to search Lake Lothing between Mutford lock
and the ASDA supermarket. When
the police were happy that the lifeboat had searched enough of the river
they informed the crew that they were able to stand down. Also assisting
in the search were Coastguard & Suffolk Lowland Search and rescue
teams, police officers and dog units.

21:40 The
South Broads RNLI Lifeboat was called out on Thursday 7th May at 21:50
to search for a group of youths in small craft on Oulton broad. Both
South Broads lifeboats were launched and both pedaloes were soon found
abandoned and one capsized.

14:07 The
South Broads RNLI Lifeboat was called out on Wednesday 6th May to search
for a person missing from a vessel on Lake Lothing. The Broads ILB1
D-514 Lord Kitchener was launched at 14:24 along with Broads Truck en
route.

02:02 Yarmouth Coastguard requested that D-514 Lord Kitchener, was launched to assist Norfolk Fire Service with a 44ft Birchwood cruiser "At Last" which was on fire in St Olaves Marina. The ILB proceeded at once to St Olaves, although hampered by thick fog. Once on scene the inshore lifeboat crew stood by whilst fire crews fought the fire, Then once the flames were under control the lifeboat then moved in to Offer safety cover to the fire crews using breathing apparatus near the water, Meanwhile, a second team from the South Broads Station with the 4x4 vehicle were also on scene, worked with St Olaves Marina staff to put out anti-pollution booms. Once fire crews were happy that the fire was safely out, although the vessel was now very low in the water, the Marina staff and Fire Service were happy that the anti-pollution booms would prevent any damage to the environment, and both South Broads units were stood down at around 05:00 and were refuelled and ready for service by 06:00. 16/03/2009
08:43 Yarmouth Coastguard requested that D-514 Lord Kitchener, was launched following reports of a gentleman who had fallen into Broadlands Holiday Village marina. The casualty was found floating near to the quay heading, where a member of public had got a lifebuoy to him. The Inshore lifeboat crew managed to recover the gentleman safely into the lifeboat and transferred him into the hands of a waiting ambulance crew at a nearby slipway. With him safe, albeit rather cold, with a few minor cuts. the lifeboat returned to station, being refuelled and ready for service by 09:20.

21:07 Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads launched to reports of a woman several hours overdue in a dinghy. Broads ILB2 & a RNLI crewed yard launch started searching Lake Lothing, whilst Coastguard and Lifeboat volunteers searched along the banks. The casualty was found adrift downstream, near the old shell base suffering from hyperthermia and a suspected broken arm, and was landed at Lowestoft Haven Marina to a waiting ambulance crew. all units were then stood down to return to station, refuelled and ready for service by 22:45.
