Yarmouth Coastguard requested South Broads launch to a report of a yacht adrift on Oulton Broad.

Broads ILB1 Launched at 17:43 and whilst searching north bay the casualty vessel was located, before being towed back to a safe mooring.

Broads ILB1 was back on station, refuelled and ready for service by 18:26, and so ended the stations first Christmas callout

Yarmouth Coastguard requested South Broads launch to assist the Lowestoft lifeboat with a incident in the Lowestoft harbour.

Broads Truck was sent but was stood down to return station before arriving on scene.

Broads truck was back on station, refuelled and ready for service by 01:00

Yarmouth Coastguard requested South Broads launch to assist the Ambulance service with a medical emergency on Oulton Broad.

Broads ILB1 transfered the paramedic to the casualty. Then after initial treatment returned the casualty to shore to a waiting ambulance. before being released to station.

Broads ILB1 was back on station, refuelled and ready for service by 04:00

Yarmouth Coastguard requested South Broads launch to a report of a dog stuck on the rock groyne off Lowestoft Beach. The Coastguard was concerned about the dog owner's safety if they attempted a rescue alone.

Broads Truck went to Children's Corner and the Dog was assisted back to the beach, and returned to a very grateful owner.

The truck was back on station and ready for service by 19:35.

At 19:40 Great Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads lifeboat Launch to an increasing number of reports of Red Distress flares fired from the western end of Oulton Broad,

D-492 was Launched and proceeded towards the Western end of the broad, During this time the crew of the lifeboat sighted numerous Red Distress flares being fired whilst on route.

After a search of the water near to the area the flares were being fired from it was confirmed the flares were being fired from on land and not from the water as believed and following further information regarding the location of the flares being fired Suffolk police and the Coastguard mobiles proceeded to the location by road, Broads ILB1 was then released to return to the boathouse and was back on station refuelled and ready for service by 20:20

D-492 Left Burgh St Peter 15:46

At 15:46 Yarmouth Coastguard requested Broads ILB1 Divert from Burgh St Peter to a 4.8m Cruiser reported with several intoxicated youths on board between Somerleyton and Oulton Broad.

Broads ILB1 left the Waveney River centre and was on scene by 15:59

Broads ILB1 then searched up to St Olaves and then down as far as Beccles, by 16:29 nothing was found and ILB1 returned slowly back to station, refuelled and ready for service again by 18:30

XP-42 Launched 23:06 Burgh Castle

Gorleston Mobile (HMCG)

At 22:14 Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads lifeboat Launch to a 4.5m Outboard motor cruiser out of fuel and adrift between St Olaves and Burgh Castle. One person on shore was trying to get fuel leaving 3 People aboard the cruiser.

Broads ILB1 Launched and Broads Truck was sent by road to Burgh Castle marina to meet the gentleman who had collected fuel to ferry the fuel to the vessel.

Broads ILB1 arrived on scene and searched the river towards Broads ILB2 which had launched from Burgh Castle, the cruiser was quickly located and ILB1 took the vessel under tow to the marina where the vessel was moored and its occupants were landed and checked over. Both boats and the truck then returned to station and were refuelled and ready for service by 00:40.

Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads lifeboat launch after Suffolk Police informed them that a Motor cruiser with 4POB was adrift on Oulton Broad.

Both boats launched from the station and Broads truck was dispatched on a bank search.

After a search of the area a cruiser matching the description was found moored, with the engine still warm from running. Yarmouth Coastguard ere satisfied that the vessel had been found and informed all units that they may stand down.

Vessel Adrift at St Olaves, on arrival on scene informed by Coastguard that vessel had been successfully recovered and back on station, refuelled and ready for service by 22:50.

Yarmouth Coastguard requested Broads ILB1 immediate launch to reports of a capsize sailing dinghy on Oulton Broad, before leaving station the Sailing Vessel was righted and ILB1 was stood down.

Yarmouth Coastguard received a 999 call to a motor yacht that had lost its propeller on Oulton Broad, Broads ILB1 was approx 100 yards from the casualty vessel on exercise and was diverted to assist, towing the vessel to its moorings off the Commodore before landing the owner at the yacht station.

At 21:50, during a crew BBQ at the station Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads truck depart to a report of a person in the water in Hamilton Dock Lowestoft.

At 11:12 Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads lifeboat launch to a report of a boat stuck under St Olaves Bridge.

Broads ILB1 and Broads Truck responded to the call out and headed for St Olaves.

Broads Truck arrived on scene to find the casualty had freed themselves and Broads ILB2 was stood down.

At 21:35 Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads lifeboat launch to a report of a boat on fire between Somerleyton and Waveney River Centre.

Broads ILB1 and Broads Truck responded to the call out and headed for somerleyton after both ILBs searching between somerleyton and 2 miles west of the River centre nothing was found.

Broads ILB1 & Broads ILB2 then searched back up the river to St Olaves, Nothing was found and all units were stood down to return to stations.

At 19:10 Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads lifeboat launch to a person in the water at somerleyton.

Broads Truck responded to the call out and headed for somerleyton.

Once on Scene the casualty had already got to safety, Broads Truck Returned to station.

At 20:41 Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads lifeboat launch to reports of Red Distress Flares over Oulton Dyke.

Broads ILB1 and Broads Truck responded to the call out and headed for Oulton Dyke, once on Scene nothing was found.

Broads Truck, Lowestoft Coastguard were stood down after a brief search at Colmans Dyke and returned to base, Whilst Broads ILB1 Headed to Waveney River Centre.

At 08:47 Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads lifeboat launch to reports of a vessel adrift at St Olaves. It was unsure as to how the vessel had become adrift and it was requested that the Broads ILB1 and Gorleston Mobile (HMCG) investigate.

Once on scene it was ascertained that no one had been onboard the vessel and it had infact parted from its moorings and a search of the area confirmed this.

South Broads lifeboat & Gorleston Coastguard stood down 10:00 The South Broads lifeboat was back on station refuelled and ready for service by 10:55

At 11:12 Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested that the South Broads lifeboat launch to two persons in the water at Beccles. The lifeboat launched at 11:15 and made best speed. As there was ice forming on the river there was a very high risk of Hypothermia for anyone in the water for more than a few minutes.

At approximately 11:25 all units were stood down as the ambulance was on scene with Lowestoft Mobile (HMCG) and Suffolk Police and it was confirmed both people had been recovered.
The South Broads lifeboat was back on station refuelled and ready for service by 11:45

Tasked to Search area 13:39

At 13:39 Gt Yarmouth Coastguard requested the South Broads lifeboat Search Breydon water for a missing person. The Broads ILB1 was already in the St Olaves area having been on exercise and proceeded straight away. The person had been missing for approximately 24hrs but a recent “hit” on a mobile phone mast suggested she may be in the area of the River Bure & Breydon Water. Broads ILB1 was sent to search Breydon water from Breydon Bridge up to the New Cut. Hemsby Broads Rescue was tasked to search the River Bure. Two 4x4 vehicles from Gorleston Coastguard SAR team and the South Broads were tasked to check the southern banks of Breydon Water. Around approximately 14:45 all units were stood down as the person was found safe and well in the Gorleston area.

Broads Truck was returned to station ready for service by 15:20
Broads ILB1 was back on station ready for service at 16:30.

South Broads lifeboat
Lowestoft Mobile (HMCG)

South Broads lifeboat was launched at 22:31 to reports of Red Flares near Geldeston, Broads Truck proceeded by road to Beccles while the D Class launched from the slipway.

Both boats carried out a thorough search of the river but found nothing and had returned to station, ready for further service by 00:30.
